Animated Postcard

The animated postcard combined two postcards that I had previously created so that it could be interactive. I chose the picture of the gate because I wanted it to open to reveal the second card which was behind it. This was all done in Flash.

Postcards

These postcards were made to represent the East Side of Austin. They were created after going out into the neighborhoods of East Austin and taking many pictures.

This project was about finding a material that we could make a typeface out of. I used packing peanut material and used the word impact displayed on a crashed car to get across my concept. After making my letters out of packing peanut material I went to a repair shop that had lots of crashed cars in their yard so that I could display my letters on the car that I chose.

Five Minutes a Week was an activity booklet that we designed where we were given the information and had to find a way to present the material so that a third grader could understand it. I tried to not have too much text on each page and to give plenty of writing space for the kids to write and draw in. Many kids don't like workbooks if there's too much that they have to read.Full Workbook

For the Document project we were assigned a letter and then had to find objects to represent our letter. I was given the letter B and used different objects to make different shapes of B's and colors/textures.

The critical mass project had us try to make pictures that represented the amendment that we picked. I chose the 10th amendment and tried to use the pictures that were available to represent t hat amendment.

The transformation project resulted in six new pictures from items/magazine pictures that were scanned into the computer. These were my first projects done in Photoshop.

The scavenger hunt project had us take six photos and find a link to each one from the one before. I went out and tooks lots of photos and then found 6 that had links to one another.

The Kitchen of Meaning was a project where we were given a word and then used that word to create a concept for our posters. I made an older chat window because I wanted to portray the internet vernacular. Using a chat window seemed like a good way to display it.

This was a type specimen book about Minion Pro to show what the font looks like and what you could do with it. I wanted to use a background that looked like old parchment and tried to make the book have the old style feel.

Design Culture Now was a project where we had to create a poster that displayed the information on the location and short bios of the artists.

typography_I_1

This was the first project in typography I where we made our own typeface.

The cognitive map is about what goes through my head as I drive to school. I start by waking up, then walking my dog, eating breakfast, getting on the highway, listening to music, finding parking, getting coffee, then working at my desk.

The perceptual map represents the five senses as I travel to school in the morning.

The artifact map is a very simple map that looks pretty much like an ordinary map from my apartment to school.

For this project we had to create three new unique symbols that represented our topic and I picked Conservation.

Then we were given a picture of an eagle which was harder than the rubber duck.

Our next project was to create this rubber duck in Illustrator using the pen tool.

Our first project in graphic design I was to make our room on illustrator and to try to put everything in my room into illustrator.
